Include Ethanol

Reader comment on: Myhrvold on Alternative Energy

Too bad the piece did not include Ethanol, one of the most insane alternative

energy boondoggles of our age. In addition to all of its other disadvantages

and adverse economic impacts, the additon of even 15% ethanol to gasoline is

in the process of ruining tens of millions of small gasoline engines, as used in

lawn mowers, snow blowers, emergency power generators and many many

other devices. The ethanol attracts moisture from the air and dilutes the gasoline

and it also corrodes the engines' fuel systems irreversibly.
