The "soft despotism" that Tocqueville warned about just became a lot harder. The question now is, what part of American life will the Left attempt to take over? I predict they will go for universal day care. This is something Hillary Clinton has long wanted.

Let's not forget, though, the degree to which the Republicans have been culpable in the passage of Obama's Health Care bill. The step from the Republican's Prescription Drug bill to Obama's bill is one of degree and not of kind. They both share the same moral premise: altruism.
