Reader comment on: Apple Versus the FBI

Submitted by Mark Henderson (United States), Feb 18, 2016 17:40

The central point, to me, is that this technology does not exist.

If it existed and Apple just wouldn't hand it over, OK, that's one thing. But here the goverment is compelling a private entity to perform work -- to make it an agent of the government, if you will -- and produce something that is in direct conflict to that which its owners have decided is in its best interests.

I fear my conservative friends are on the wrong side of this issue in suggesting the government should have the right to compel, post hoc, a company to perform work on its behalf.
