There it was wanting to build a freeway thru the theater and tear up the Pacific Electric. Of course the examples cited, are things that would be done on the edge of a city not the center where presumably any theaters would be. The plot of course is far fetched since for years directional drilling has been around, so you just buy up a near by property and drill from there. But Simon Legree type villains have been around since day one and make good villains.
