Not bad for two years work either

Reader comment on: The $430,000 Law Professor

How much actual "work" do most "Professors" do in direct relationship to their position? I will bet most don't spend over 5 hours/week in actual teaching mode. How often do they revise their lesson plans. I'll bet they spend more jaw wagging time socializing and politicizing their nests. Really, it's a wonder the endowments keep coming in, but then, places like Harvard ensure they are populated by people who have similar group-think mentalities....to say nothing of a tremendous incentive to keep the status quo on all but their hours and their compensation.

On campii without as much endowment, the mortgage debacle enable the no-doc type student loans which helped inflate staff compensation without a corresponding increase in productivity. Having the taxpayers pickup the expense for such malfeasance is outright criminal. But, it buys a certain voting bloc, like the "free education" entitlement crowd, and the students who graduated owing loans but chose weak demand majors.

If Romney supports this, he'll soon be shown the errors of his way after he's elected.
