Could just as easly be rewritten as:

"If the Trump voters had simply voted for Mrs. Clinton, Mrs. Clinton would have won the state."

or

"If the non-voters had simply voted for Mrs. Clinton, Mrs. Clinton would have won the state."

If people in states that Trump took had voted for Hillary Clinton she would have won. They didn't. That's on HIllary Clinton and her campaign.

Stein votes are not transferable to Hillary Clinton, and the Green Party isn't going to go away. If you want to steal Green votes for Democrats, you'll have to do it like any other vote - earn them.
