Amendments are part of the American constitutional legacy and process. Ones that restrict freedom, though, I find un American. The fact that politics and campaigns are somewhat dirty does not in my opinion justify laws and amendments restricting freedom. The ends do not justify the means and where the means includes restricting speech in any way, especially in politics, we better be careful. The cure is likely to be worse than the disease.
