Tweaking of First Amendment

Reader comment on: Schumer Versus The First Amendment

Submitted by Gina Pryor (United States), Nov 26, 2011 22:17

Does the idea of Congress tweaking the First Amendment terrify anyone else? This is not about cleaning up the election process, this is using any excuse to set a precedent for rewriting The Bill of Rights and abolishing our civil rights even if they have to do it one word at a time. I am not that surprised what some members of Congress are proposing, given the history of Congress: - Federal Reserve Act of 1933 (20th-21st centuries' version of slavery) - The Patriot Act What does surprise me is the lukewarm, close to nonexistent objection by the people to this proposal. If the people of this country don't wake up soon, it will be too late.
