Good BalanceReader comment on: Party of Immigrants, Night Two Submitted by Lorenz Gude (Australia), Aug 30, 2012 04:56 Glad someone else notices those awkward moments on the way by. Overall I think the GOP is in a much better position than they were in 2008 and this convention is going very well. I thought Christie played it right - be statesman like and have the confidence to let people judge you by what you do, not what you say. Christie has done a lot and his claims rang true - right down to the bipartisanship he mantioned at the end of the speech. The truth is he couldn't have turned NJ around without bipartisanship, but I don't think many people believe the Democrats in NJ would have done it without his leadership. I think Romney is handling himself well and that the President's attacks are probably chipping away at that bland image of Romney's and revealing there is a class act behind that public face. Picking a mover and shaker as VP, and putting the party's best speaker and man who has actually done thie kinds of bugitary rationalization that Romney and Ryan say they want to accmplish is bringing Romney into focus. Quite frankly my doubts about him was that he was too much the business as usual establishmentarian to actually do anything. If he can convince the public he will actually act, he may get the winning surge he needs. Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing.
