An individual achieves success on their own; failure can come from many sources, like the government drowning you in red tape. It is perfectly appropriate to blame the government for enacting policies that destroy business which leads to the failure of many, while still giving the government no credit for building that which individuals build themselves. On the balance, government is more foe than friend to any successful endeavor, unless you have the right connections. More bureaucracy and more dependence on the government's fickle helping hand are very bad things. For a conservative, how can that ever be off-message?
