What is being measured? NOT if texting is going down or not.

IF people are HIDING their texting, that would in fact make it worse for accidents. Because they shift focus even more, as others have mentioned. This study isn't very deep. For example, if someone has an accident, did anyone check to see if they were texting at that moment? That would tell you a lot right there.
As far as the AC? "I'm hot, should turn on the AC." The turning on of the AC doesn't take much thought, but the writing of that sentence, surely does, because there are 31 KEYSTROKES, not just the pushing of one button. On small keys of an object that is not rigidly mounted to anything. Added to the change in thinking that writing words is to thinking a thought, It IS very different.
Think about these things, hoss. OTOH! It is every individual responsibility to be in control when they drive... the problem is that most people think they are much better drivers than they are. And the pnealty for that is that they might KILL someone else.
